Cheongyang
is called the Alps of Chungnam, due
to its beautiful basins and valleys.
Richness in humus, sand land (well
draining), and it's large diurnal range
offer the best conditions for cultivating
vegetables and herbs. Also, Cheongyang
peppers grow in the beautiful sunshine
and clean air resulting in the pepper
having plenty of mineral and lots of
capsaicin(the factor of pepper's hot
taste), and a bright color.
People say that Cheongyang peppers
help preserve 'Kimchi' longer, and
help 'Kimchi' taste better. Because
of this reputation, some farmers
in other regions would sometimes
imitate the name of "Cheongyang
peppers" as if their products.
